Game: Michigan State at Penn State (+1.5)

Sharp: Dave Miller

Selection: Michigan State (-1.5)

The Big Ten will deliver college basketball fans another Top 25 matchup on Tuesday night as No. 16 Michigan State (20-9, 12-6 Big Ten) travels to University Park to take on No. 20 Penn State (21-8, 11-7) at Bryce Jordan Center. Pat Chambers led the Nittany Lions to a 75-70 win in East Lansing in the first meeting between the teams back in early February.

Tom Izzo's Spartans are coming off of a strong road performance in College Park against Maryland. Cassius Winston and company used a strong first half en route to a 78-66 victory over the Terrapins on Saturday night. MSU raced out to a 17-5 lead and never trailed to hand Maryland its first home loss of the season and avenge a 67-60 setback to Mark Turgeon's squad two weeks earlier to win its third straight. Winston's 20 points and six assists made up for his seven turnovers, while Xavier Tillman had 14 points and 12 rebounds and Malik Hall added 16.

Meanwhile, the Nittany Lions have dropped three of four after an eight-game win streak, which is not the way they wanted to head into March. They dropped a 77-68 decision to Iowa on the road this past Saturday as Hawkeyes star Luka Garza extended his streak of 20 or more points against Big Ten teams to 14 games. Lamar Stevens led PSU with 20 points and 10 rebounds, Seth Lundy had 19 and Myles Dread added 11. Guard Myreon Jones, who connected on 6-of-8 3-pointers in PSU's win at MSU a month ago, returned after missing the last six games and tallied 5 points in 19 minutes.

Michigan State—the AP Top 25 preseason No. 1 team—has managed to bounce back after falling out of the poll last month. The Spartans have won four of their last six road games, and they'll have to deal with another tough environment against PSU, which will host Senior Night for stars Stevens and Mike Watkins.

But it looks like Sparty may have shed some of its inconsistencies that plagued the team throughout much of 2019-20. And a lot of that has to do with Winston's supporting cast, including freshmen Hall and Rocket Watts as well as Aaron Henry.

Michigan State played its best game in a long time against Maryland, showing an edge that had been missing this year. Stevens will be a load, but Sparty should be able to cover the 1.5-point spread if it plays similar to its performance this past weekend.
